"Wakasa-hama-giku" (Chrysanthemum japonucum var. wakasaense) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Japan Sea side of Honshu, from Fukui-prefecture west to Tottori prefecture in Japan. This herb grows on coastal, montane rocky places and cliffs, and can reach 40-80 cm in height. This species is a variety of "Ryunou-giku", and defined by relatively large plant. The leaves are ovate to broad ovate and three lobate. The white flower heads, 4-5 cm across, bloom from October to November.
