The Dwarf pineapple flower (Eucomis fumilis) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a deciduous bulb that is endemic to KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. This herb grows in summer rainfall areas at altitudes 2,200-2,900 m, and up to a height of 40 cm. The leaves are lanceolate, keeled, purple tinted, wavy-edged, have purple spots below. The greenish white flowers are sometimes purple-tinted with purple stamens bloom in midsummer, from December to February.
