The Euphorbia leucodendron belongs to Euphorbiaceae (the Spurge family). It is an evergreen shrub that is distributed from the eastern part to the southern part of Africa. The stem is pale green, fleshy, has no thorns, and has small leaves at the tips of growing branches. During the dormant period, the stems become white powder. In horticulture, it is called "Hakugin-sango" (white-silver coral) or "Hisui-boku" (Jade tree).
