マダガスカルが原産です。高さは３メートル以上になります。中心にある幹は木質で、多数の波打った帯状の茎が放射状に広がります。茎は平らかまたは３稜があり、濃い緑色をしています。葉はありません。和名では、「しかづのきりん（鹿角麒麟）」と呼ばれるそうです。

トウダイグサ科トウダイグサ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Euphorbia ramipressa。英名はありません。

The Euphorbia ramipressa belongs to Euphorbiaceae (the Spurge family). It is an evergreen herb that is native to Madagascar. The height will be over 3 m. The central trunk is woody, with numerous wavy strips radiating out. The stem is flat or has three ridges and has a dark green color. There are no leaves. In Japanese name, it is called "Shikazuno-kirin" (Deer horn spurge).
