南アフリカ原産で、「マーガレット」に似た黄色の花が、真夏以外は一年を通して咲いています。葉や茎に白い毛が生えているので、銀白色のように見えます。ユリオプスには「大きな眼をもつ」という意味があり、花が人目をひくことに因むそうです。潅木なので、徒長したときには刈り込んでも大丈夫です。

キク科ユリオプス属の常緑小低木で、学名は Euryops pectinatus。英名は Gray-leaved euryops。

The Gray-leaved euryops (Euryops pectinatus) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to South Africa. This shrub blooms marguerite-like flowers through the year except mid summer. The stems and leaves are covered with white hairs and appear to be silvery white.
