The Joshua tree (Yucca brevifolia) belongs to Agavaceae (the Agave family). It is a semi-tall evergreen tree that is native to Mojave Desert, southern California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona. It grows in arid areas, slow growing and can reach about 8 m in height. The leaves are rigid, linear and up to 40 cm long. They have small toothed edges and end in sharp tips. The greenish-white flowers come in the nodding panicles in early spring. The fruits are edible.
