"Yama-bokuchi" (Synurus palmatopinnatifidus var. indivisus) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from Aichi prefecture of Hinshu west to Shikoku, Kyushu in Japan, and the Korean Peninsula. This herb grows on sunny meadows and forest edges and can reach 70-100 cm in height. The stem is covered with white spider hair. The leaves are slightly thin ovate and the base is heart-shaped or round. Fluff grows densely on the back side. From October to November, reddish-purple flower heads bloom sideways on the shoot apex. The flower heads are all tubular flowers, and the bracts are covered with spider hair.
