The Crimson glory vine (Vitis coignetiae) belongs to Vitaceae (the Grape family). It is a deciduous woody vine that is native to throughout Japan and the Korea Peninsula. This vine grows in montane woodlands and can reach about 10 m long. The leaves are round and 3-5 lobate with the brown wooly hairs on abaxial sides. The panicles are borne and bloom yellowish green flowers from June to July. The globose fruits are ripen black in fall. They are great favorite of bears, and used as raw materials of jam, juice or wine. The 10th and 16th photos are insect goals of a fly (Cecidomyia viticola).
