わが国の各地に分布しています。山地の林内や林縁に生え、高さは５０〜６０センチほどになります。「ぬすびとはぎ」の一型で、より湿地を好むようです。茎はほとんど分枝せず、洋紙質の薄い葉は下の方にまとまってつきます。７月から９月ごろ、細長い花序に淡い紅色の花を咲かせます。

マメ科ヌスビトハギ属の多年草で、学名は Desmodium podocarpum ssp. oxyphyllum var. mandshuricum。英名はありません。

"Yabu-hagi" (Desmodium podocarpum ssp. oxyphyllum var. mandshuricum) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to all over Japan. This herb grows in montane woodlands and can reach 50-60 cm in height. This species is a variant of Thunberg's bush-clover and bents for more wet places. The stem is few branched and the leaves are clustered at the lower part. The narrow inflorescences are borne and bloom pale rose-pink flowers from July to September.
