	わが国の北海道西南部から本州、四国・九州、それに東アジアから東南アジア、インドに分布しています。地下茎を伸ばして広がります。茎には稜があり、巻きひげを絡ませて樹木や草によじ登ります。葉は鳥足状の掌状複葉で、互生します。６月から８月ごろ、葉と対生して集散花序をだし、小さな淡い緑色の４弁花を咲かせます。花の中央部（花盤）はオレンジ色で目立ちます。果実は球形の液果でまれにつき、黒色に熟します。台湾華語では「虎葛」、中国語では「烏蔹莓（wu lian mei）」と呼ばれます。
	ブドウ科ヤブカラシ属の多年草で、学名は Cayratia japonica。英名は Bushkiller。
	The Bushkiller (Cayratia japonica) belongs to Vitaceae (the Grape family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed southward to southeastern Hokkaido to Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan, as well as East Asia, Southeast Asia and India. This herb spreads by elongated rhizomes. The stem is quadrangular and climbs up adjacent shrubs and trees by tendrils. The leaves are pedatifid compound and alternate. The small pale greenish flowers come in the cymes that are opposite side of the leaves from June to August. The flower has conspicuous orange flower disk. The fruits are round berries and rarely ripen in black. In Taiwanese Chinese, it is called "虎葛" and in Chinese "烏蔹莓" (wu lian mei).
