わが国の本州、中部地方以西から四国、九州それに朝鮮半島や中国に分布しています。明るい林や林縁などに生え、高さは１〜１．５メートルになります。葉は掌状に３〜５裂し、互生します。４月から５月ごろ、枝先に小さな緑色の花を束状に咲かせます。果実は秋に赤く熟し、渋みと酸味が強いので果実酒などに使われます。

スグリ科スグリ属の落葉低木で、学名は Ribes fasciculatum。英名はありません。

|
"Yabu-sanzashi" (Ribes fasciculatum) belongs to Grossulariaceae (the Gooseberry family). It is a small deciduous tree that is distributed westward from Chubu district of Honshu to Shikoku, Kyushu of Japan, the Korean Peninsula and China. This tree grows in open woods and forest edges, and can reach 1-1.5 m in height. The leaves are alternate and divided into 3-5 lobes palmately. The small green flowers bloom in the terminal clusters from April to May. The fruits ripen in red in fall. They have astringent taste and strong acid, and provide the raw material for fruit wine.
