わが国の本州、中部地方以北から北海道、それに中国やヒマラヤ、北アメリカに分布しています。山地から亜高山の日当たりがよくて、やや乾燥気味の礫地に生えます。名前は「ははこぐさ」に似ていることから。茎は直立して３０〜６０センチほどになり、線形の葉は互生します。葉の裏には白色の綿毛が密生しています。７月から９月ごろに咲きますが、白い花弁のように見えるのは総苞片が変化したもので、ほんとうの花は中心の淡黄色の管状花です。中国語では「珠光香青（zhu guang xiang qing）」と呼ばれます。 |

キク科ヤマハハコ属の多年草で、学名は Anaphalis margaritacea var. angustior (syn. Anaphalis margaritacea var. margaritacea)。英名は Pearly everlasting。 |

The Pearly everlasting (Anaphalis margaritacea var. angustior) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed northward from Chubu district of Honshu to Hokkaido of Japan, as well as China, the Himalaya and North America. This herb grows in montane to sub-alpine sunny aridish screes and can reach 30-60 cm in height. The stem is erect and the linear leaves are alternate. The abaxial sides of leaves are covered with white wooly hairs densely. The white flower heads come in July through September. The bracts are white and petal-like. The true flowers are pale yellow tubular flowers at the center of heads. In Chinese, it is called "珠光香青" (zhu guang xiang qing). |
