The Night jasmine (Cestrum nocturnum) belongs to Solanaceae (the Nightshade family). It is a small evergreen tree that is native to the West Indies. From summer to fall, panicles are borne on the tips of the branches periodically, and small pale green flowers come in bloom. This flower opens at night and gives off a strong scent. For this reason, it is also known as "Yakoboku", and in China it is called "夜香樹" (ye xiang shu). After flowering, it bears spherical white fruits.
