	マダガスカル島が原産です。幹が直立して、高さは８メートルほどになります。葉軸は黄色、葉は羽状で光沢があり、２メートルくらいの長さになります。別名で「アレカやし（アレカ椰子）」とか「こがねたけやし（黄金竹椰子）」と呼ばれます。
	ヤシ科ヤマドリヤシ属の常緑小高木で、学名は Dypsis lutescens (syn. Chrysalidocarpus lutescens。英名は Yellow butterfly palm、Areca palm。
	The Yellow butterfly palm (Dypsis lutescens) belongs to Arecaceae (the Palm family). It is a semi-tall evergreen tree that is native to Madagascar. The stem is erect and can reach about 8 m in height. The rachis is yellow, the leaves are pinnate, glossy and about 2 m long.
