The "Yama-yuri" (Lilium auratum) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed northward from Kinki district of Honshu in Japan. This herb grows in fields and mountains and can reach 1-1.5 m in height. The leaves are broad lanceolate to narrow lanceolate and alternate. The fragrant white flowers come on the stem apices from July to August. The tepals are recurving with yellow stripes and reddish brown mottles on the inside surface.
