"Yanagi-nigana" (Ixeris laevigata) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native from southern Kyushu to the Ryukyu Islands in Japan, as well as Taiwan, the Philippines Archipelago, the Indo-china Peninsula, Java Island and New Guinea. This herb grows on sunny, wet rocks along streams, and it reach 20-30 cm in height. The leaves are lanceolate, pinnately lobed and mostly in basal rosettes. The flower-heads bloom in corymbs-like clusters atop of flowering stalks from April to August. The flower-head is small and consists of yellow, about 10 ray florets. In Taiwanese Chinese, "刀傷草".
