"Yanagi-nogiku" (Aster hispidus var. leptocladus) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed only in Kochi prefecture, Honshu in Japan. It is a variety of "Yamaji-nogiku" that grows in the serpentinite area of western Japan. The stems are thin, may be purplish, and can reach up to 80 cm in height. The leaves are linear and alternate. From October to November, it is pale bluish purple and blooms flower heads 2.5 to 3 cm in diameter. The involucres are arranged in two rows and are linear.
