"Yama-odamaki" (Aquilegia buergeriana) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Japan, the Korean Peninsula, China and Siberia. This herb grows in montane grasslands and forest edges, and it can reach 30-60 cm in height. The leaves are twice ternate, and the leaflets are fan-shaped and divided into 2-3 lobes. The several flowers bloom in the branched peduncles from June to August. The corolla consists of yellow flowers, purplish-brown sepals and spurs.
