ブラジルの固有種で、東南部と南部に分布しています。「パナマそう（パナマ草）」の仲間ですが、葉は団扇状にならず、矢羽根のようなかたちをしています。一つの葉に二本の主脈があり、先端でつながっています。そして、時が来ると、先端から裂けてきて、それぞれが独立して矢羽のようになります。詳細な情報は見あたりません。

The Carludovica brachypus belongs to belongs to Arecaceae (the Palm family). It is an evergreen herb that is endemic to Brazil and is distributed in the southeastern and southern parts of the country. Although it is a member of "Panama hat plant" (Carludovica palmata), its leaves do not form a fan and are shaped like arrow feathers. There are two main veins on one leaf, which are connected at the tip. And when the time comes, it tears from the tip and each becomes like a fletching independently.
