"Yabu-tabirako" (Lapsanastrum humilis) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is an annual herb that is distributed throughout Japan, the Korean Peninsula, and China. It grows in damp areas between rice paddies and grows 20 to 30 cm tall. The soft leaves are pinnately lobed at the base and slightly erect. Yellow flower-heads bloom in inflorescences at the ends of branches from April to June. The flowers are similar to those of the "Japanese nipplewort", but there are more ray flowers, 18 to 20 in number. In Chinese, it is called "矮小稲槎菜" (ai xiao dao cha cai).
