わが国の本州、東北地方に分布しています。火山性の湿地に生え、高さは４０〜５０センチになります。茎は叢生し、葉は茎よりも低くて、裏面には小突起があり、白色を帯びます。６月から７月ごろ、茎頂に長い柄のある小穂をつけます。頂小穂は雄性または雌雄性、側小穂は長い柄があって垂れ下がり、雌性または頂部に少数の雄花をつけます。果胞は嘴が短く、先端が二裂しないのが特徴です

カヤツリグサ科スゲ属の多年草で、学名は Carex angustisquama。英名はありません。

"Yama-tanukiran" (Carex angustisquama) belongs to Cyperaceae (the Sedge family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to Tohoku district of Honshu. This herb grows in volcanic marshes, and can reach 40-50 cm in height. The stems are clumping. The leaves are smaller than the stems, and the abaxial sides of them have small projections and are tinged white. The long stalked spikelets are borne at the terminal stems from June to July. The acrogyrous spikes are male or ambisexual, and the pleurogerous spikes are long stalked, drooping, and female or carrying a few male flowers at the terminal clusters. The perigyniums is defined by short and no-bifid beaks.
