"Yatsushiro-so" (Campanula glomerata var. dahurica) belongs to Campanulaceae (the Bellflower family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Aso-Kuju region in Kyushu of Japan, as well as the Korean Peninsula, north-eastern China and eastern Siberia. It is a remaining plant at the time when the Eurasian Continent and Japan were adjacent. This herb grows in montane wettish grasslands and it can reach 30-100 cm in height. The leaves are broad lanceolate, fine serrated, and arranged in alternate. The purple tubular flowers bloom upright in the cluster atop of stems from May to September. The corolla is divided into five lobes. The fruits are capsules.
