わが国の本州、近畿地方から中国地方に分布しています。「なんぶあざみ（南部薊）」の変種で、山野にふつうに生え、高さは１〜２メートルになります。葉は羽状で深裂し、葉縁には鋭い棘があります。９月から１１月ごろ、葉腋から枝を伸ばし淡い赤紫色の頭花を咲かせます。名前は、植物学者の吉野善介氏に因みます。総苞片はふつう反り返りますが、写真上・中１のものは短く「おはらめあざみ（大原女薊）」のようなかたちをしています。「よしのあざみ」にも総苞片の短いタイプがあるということなので、一応こちらに分類しています。

キク科アザミ属の多年草で、学名は Cirsium nipponicum var. yoshinoi。英名はありません。

"Yoshino-azami" (Cirsium nipponicum var. yoshinoi) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from Kinki region to Chugoku region of Honshu in Japan. It is a variety of "Nanbu-azami" and grows normally in the mountains, and its height is 1 to 2 m. The leaves are pinnate and deeply split, with sharp spines on the leaf edges. From September to November, the branches grow from the axils and bloom pale reddish-purple flower heads. The name comes from the botanist Zensuke Yoshino. The involucral bracts usually warp, but the 1st and the 2nd photos are short and looks like "Oharame-azami". "Yoshino-azami" also has a short type of bracts, so it is classified here for the time being.
