ビルマ南部のテナッセリム地方で発見された１属１種の熱帯花木です。ビルマやインドに分布し、高さは１０〜１５メートルほどになります。葉は偶数羽状複葉で、２０〜３０センチの長い小葉は６〜８対あります。総状花序を下垂させて、朱赤色の「らん（蘭）」に似た花を咲かせます。

マメ科ヨウラクボク属の落葉高木で、学名は Amherstia nobilis。英名は Queen of flowering trees、Pride of Burma。

The Queen of flowering trees (Amherstia nobilis) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is a tall deciduous tree that is a tropical flowering tree of one genus and one species found in the Tenasselim region in southern Burma. It is distributed in Burma and India, and its height is about 10 to 15 m. The leaves are pari-pinnate compound with 6 to 8 pairs of long leaflets of 20 to 30 cm. The racemes are hung down and bloom red-red "orchids" -like flowers.
