わが国の固有種で、本州の中部地方以北から東北地方南部（月山以南）に分布しています。亜高山帯から高山帯の砂礫地や岩場に生え、高さは１０〜３０センチになります。葉は羽状に深裂し、３〜４個ずつ輪生します。７月から８月ごろ、淡紅紫色の花を、２〜７段に咲かせます。花冠は２唇形で、上唇はくちばし状に尖ります。 １９９７年、藤井紀行さんの遺伝子解析による研究で、従来「よつばしおがま」とされていたものが、本州中部系統の本種と、北方系統の「きたよつばしおがま」に大きく２つに分かれることが分かりました。 |

ゴマノハグサ科シオガマギク属の多年草で、学名は Pedicularis chamissonis var. japonica (syn. Pedicularis japonica)。英名はありません。 |

The "Yotsuba-shiogama" (Pedicularis chamissonis var. japonica) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to Japan and distributed from the central part of Honshu northward to the southern part of Tohoku (south of Mt. Gassan). It grows in gravelly areas and rocky places in subalpine and alpine zones, reaching a height of 10 to 30 cm. The leaves are pinnately parted and arranged in whorls of 3 to 4. From July to August, pale reddish-purple flowers bloom in 2 to 7 tiers. The corolla is dimorphic, with the upper lip pointed like a beak. In 1997, genetic analysis by Noriyuki Fujii revealed that what had previously been considered "Yotsuba-shiogama" was actually divided into two main species: one species from central Honshu and another northern species called "Kita-yotsuba-shiogama". |
