よしのつつじ (吉野躑躅) [Index] [Back] わが国で育成された「つつじ」と「しゃくなげ」との交配品種です。高さは１〜１．５メートルになります。若枝は赤味を帯びます。葉は革質の楕円形で、先端は尖ります。３月から４月ごろ、枝先の散形花序に、ピンク色の花を咲かせます。花冠は５深裂します。  ツツジ科ツツジ属の落葉低木で、学名は Rhododendron cv. Yoshino。英名は Yoshino azalea。  The Yoshino azalea (Rhododendron cv. Yoshino) belongs to Ericaceae (the Azalea family). It is a small decidous tree that is a Japanese hybrid azalea between azalea and rhododendron. This tree grows up to a height of 1-1.5 m. Theyoung branches are tinged reddish. The leaves are leathery elliptic with pointed tips. The pink flowers bloom in terminal umbels from March to April.
