The Queen's tears (Billbergia nutans) belongs to Bromeliaceae (the Pineapple family). It is an evergreen herb that is distributed from Brazil to Argentina in South America. It came to Japan at the beginning of the Showa period (about 90 years ago). It grows in clusters and can reach 30-40 cm in height. The leaves are linear, 30-45 cm long, with very fine serrations on the edges. From winter to spring, the flower stalks are stretched between the axils and bloom flowers. Only the base of flower is tubular, the bracts are pink, the perianth is yellowish green and has a bluish-purple border.
