メキシコの北東部が原産です。最も大きくなる種のひとつで、高さ１０メートルほどになります。がっしりした幹は、初めは単幹ですが成長するにしたがって分枝します。堅い葉は小さな樹冠を形成します。早春から春にかけて、下垂した円錐花序に淡いクリーム色の花を咲かせます。

リュウゼツラン科イトラン属の常緑低木で、学名は Yucca filifera。英名は Tree yucca。

The Tree yucca (Yucca filifera) belongs to Agavaceae (the Agave family). It is a small evergreen tree that is native to the northeastern part of Mexico. It is one of the largest species, about 10 m high. A solid trunk is initially a single stem, but branches as it grows. The hard leaves form a small canopy. From early spring to spring, pale cream-colored flowers bloom on the drooping panicles.
