メキシコ北部およびアメリカ・テキサス州の北・中部に自生しています。草地に生え、高さは１〜２．５メートルになります。葉のロゼットは平均して高さ２０〜５０センチ、直径３０〜８０センチになり、幹はほとんどまたは全くないので、地面に直接すわります。葉は長さ１５〜４０センチ、幅２〜３センチで、中央付近で最も幅が広くなり、セージグリーンまたは青緑色をしています。葉には黄色から褐色の先端の棘があり、ふつうは平らで、縁に沿って少しのうねりや起伏があります。春に円錐花序をだし、１００個までのベル形の花を咲かせます。花は淡い緑色からクリーム色です。

リュウゼツラン科イトラン属の常緑多年草で、学名は Yucca pallida。英名は Pale yucca、Twistleaf yucca。

The pale yucca (Yucca pallida) belongs to Agavaceae (Agave family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to Northern Mexico and parts of northern and central Texas in the United States. his herb grows in prairies and can reach 1-2.5 m in height. The rosettes average 20-50 cm tall and 30-80 cm in diameter and sit directly on the ground, with little or no trunk. The leaves are 15-40 cm long and 2-3 cm wide, being widest around the midpoint, and sage-green or bluish-green. They have a yellow to brown terminal spine, and are generally flat, possibly with some waviness or rolling along the edges. The panicle is borne in spring and blooms up to 100 bell-shaped flowers. The flowers are light green to cream.
