"Yukimi-bana" (Strobilanthes wakasana) belongs to Acanthaceae (the Acanthus family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed from northern Shiga prefecture to Wakasa region in Fukui prefecture in Honshu, Japan. It grows in mountain forests and on the edges of forests, and its stems are crawling and its height is about 10 cm. There are many open hairs on the stems, and long hairs grow on the leaves. The leaves are broad-ovate and opposite, with serrated edges. From September to November, pale purple tubular flowers come on the upper axils. The tip of the corolla splits into five. It is closely related to "Suzumushi-bana" (Strobilanthes oligantha) and was registered as a new species in 1993.
